Kate is a graduate student in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) PhD program at Harvard. Before coming to BBS, Kate attended Northwestern University where she studied Neuroscience and Data Science. She conducted research in the lab of Minoli Perera, where she integrated computational and functional genomics approaches to characterize the effects of genetic variants on CpG methylation and gene expression in the liver. As an undergraduate, she also spent a summer in Karen Adelman’s lab at Harvard Medical School where she studied the role of m6A in regulating alternative polyadenylation site usage and mRNA stability.
In the lab, Kate is interested in leveraging high-throughput screens to comprehensively interrogate missense variants associated with chromatinopathies. Her work is supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
Outside of the lab, Kate enjoys swimming, distance running, and watching football.
